Important Alert Regarding Electronic Communications

October 13, 2016
We have recently seen an increased number of phishing attacks on credit union members in this area over the past few months through email and text messaging.

Please be aware that it is our policy to not solicit members or request member information through electronic messaging. We will quickly respond to your email but we never initiate emails or text messages to members. If you receive an unsolicited message from an employee of Roanoke Valley Community Credit Union, it's fictitious and should be deleted immediately. Also, you can usually identify them by a small change in the return address such as ruccu.org, instead of rvccu.org.

A recent study concluded that 1 out of 4 email accounts will or have been hacked. Given the risk and likelihood of a compromise at some time, RVCCU separated our email services to an off-site location with no connection to our core-processing servers several years ago. Although much of our communication today is done through electronic means, we continue to caution members not to send sensitive information to us or anyone else through unsecure electronic means.

Upcoming ATM Changes

March 14, 2016

Beginning March 17, 2016, RVCCU will be making some important changes to our ATMs.

First we are excited to announce that we will be a part of the MoneyPass ATM network. As part of this change, we will no longer participate in the CUHere network. However, through MoneyPass, you will still enjoy free access to the same CUHere ATMs you've been using, plus a complete Nationwide network of surcharge-free ATMs.

Because of the addition of MasterCard Debit Cards to our services, other ATM networks will change. For a current list of our ATM networks, please visit our Locations page.

Finally, the ATM at the Main Office will no longer accept deposits. For convenient deposits, members with Valley Free Checking accounts can use our free mobile deposit service through eValley. All members can always use the night deposit box to drop off deposits. This has the additional benefit of avoiding ATM holds on your funds.

Important Announcement for Debit Card Users

March 1, 2016

For your financial security, RVCCU is converting all of our Visa Debit Cards to the new EMV chip-enabled cards.

If you have used your current debit card at least once since 8/1/15, you will receive your new RVCCU MasterCard Debit Card by mail within the next couple of weeks.

Your old RVCCU, RCSEFCU, or RVCU Visa Debit Card will no longer work as of 3/21/16.

If you want to know more about why we are converting our cards, you can read about the EMV change here.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was the opening of the all-day celebration.

Radio stations Q99 and Star Country were also on site, along with lunch, dinner, snacks, and plenty of free prizes.

This new location is already proving to be a convenient option for members who live or work in northern Roanoke and southern Botetourt. Even more services, such as a 24‑hour drive‑up ATM will be coming soon.

Photographs from the celebration are on RVCCU's Facebook page and a video of the ribbon cutting is available on YouTube.
